Drunk Dial Congress, Americans are not thrilled with their federal government at the moment.
If you're one of the 60 percent of Americans who are so mad at Congress you'd like to see every single member tossed out, perhaps you'd like to let them know. Or if you're one of the 78 percent of people who believe the country is on the wrong track, maybe you want to give Congress a piece of your mind.
Well, now you can.
A website now lets people connect to call a random member of Congress -- preferably drunk -- and let 'em have it.
Drunk Dial Congress was developed by Revolution Messaging, a progressive communication group that was founded by Obama 2008 social media guru Scott Goodstein.
"People are pretty mad about the shutdown," Goldstein said, adding he hopes people will tell Congress they've "failed at their job" and should "get back to work."
The site works by asking interested drunk dialers to enter their own phone number, at which point they will get a call from the service. Then, it connects the call, choosing at random a member of Congress who does not share the dialer's area or ZIP codes.
Drunk Dial Congress offers some suggestions for what callers might say once they get someone at the Capitol on the phone.
"If you can yell at a Park Ranger after forcing the government to shut down then I get to yell at you," one suggestion quips.
Or how about, "Why don't you make yourself useful and at least mow the lawn?"
Some of them are more serious, highlighting the shutdown's impact on clinical trials for cancer patients.
Another: "You guys think you are the same as the heroes of 9/11? Get a [expletive] grip."
Drunk Dial Congress also offers a few drink recipes that will help get callers in the proper mindset, such as the Bad Representative (Scotch, cherry brandy, sweet vermouth, lemon juice) or the Sleepy Senator (absinthe liqueur, tonic water, sugar syrup, lime juice).
